Nana Afranie Okese IV, Omanhene of Ejisu, has urged the church to help the youth to uphold the values of hard work, integrity and selflessness.
Young people, he said, needed to be assisted to carry themselves in a way that would bring dignity and honour not only to the church but to themselves
and their families.
Nana Okese was addressing the 14th annual delegates' congress of the Committee on Children's Ministry of the Asante Presbytery of the
Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Ejisu.
"Let us rise up and build - the child as a partner", was the theme.
The Omanhene expressed worry about the rate at which the youth were getting themselves involved in all manner of crimes and said it gave cause for
concern.
He said it was incumbent on Sunday school teachers to work hard to inculcate cherished Christian principles in the youth to insulate them from
peer pressure and other social challenges.
The Reverend Ernest Odame-Asare, out-going Clerk of the Presbytery re-affirmed the church's unwavering determination to partner the government
to make life better for all Ghanaians.
He stressed that the mission would continue to implement development projects and pursue pro-poor interventions to improve the living conditions
of the people.
Mr Stephen Kwarteng, President of the Committee, encouraged Christians to reflect Christ-like qualities and help to promote peace in the society.
