The Export Development Investment Fund, under the Ministry of Trade and Industry has donated GHc 850,000 to support the construction of the Aburi Carvers Village Complex, in the Eastern Region.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency, in Aburi during the annual Akwasidae festival, Nana OtooBour Djan Kwesi II, Omanhene of Akwapim Anafoo said the
money would be used for several projects at the village.
It include Carving, Finishing, and Export halls, Ware house, Central shop, Bank, Restaurant and an Internet Café.
OtooBour Djan Kwesi said more than 400 carvers would benefit from the centre after completion and therefore called on those who have not registered with the professional association, to do so in order to do business at the place.
He also urged the youth of Aburi-Nsawam to take advantage of the association to be self-employed instead of travelling to the cities in search of white colour jobs.
OtooBour Djan Kwesi appealed to the Akwapim South Municipal Assembly and non-governmental organisations to facilitate the early completion of the project.
