The Manhyia District Hospital on Wednesday took delivery of a GH¢25,000.00 Ambulance to help handle referral cases to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital efficiently.
Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia, presented the keys to the vehicle at a ceremony in Kumasi.
Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, MP for Asawase and Dr Prempeh jointly provided the funding with support from the National Health Insurance
Authority (NHIA).
The Manhyia MP spoke of his determination to help complete abandoned projects of the hospital.
Dr Prempeh urged the management of the hospital to ensure that the vehicle was kept in good condition at all times and that it should develop strict maintenance schedule to keep it on the road.
Dr Joseph Oduro, Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of Public Health, said the hospital, which has been serving a large section of the Kumasi
population, lacked the necessary infrastructure and should be supported.
He expressed concern about the inadequate space for in-patients and said the hospital has through its internally generated funds built a
pharmacy and family planning block.
Dr Oduro thanked the MPs for the donation and said he was confident the ambulance would enhance the operations of the hospital.
