MTN Ghana on Wednesday launched its annual 21 days Yello Care programme to demonstrate commitment to Ghanaians and improved the lives of people in communities in which it operates.
The Yello Care programme is an initiative of MTN held by staff in all the company's operational areas across the world as part of their social responsibility.
The programme, which runs from 6th to 21st of May this year, is on the theme: "United we care for our communities".
As part of the programme, MTN staff would embark on football clinics, fundraising gala, and payment of health insurance contributions as well as blood donation exercises and formation of reading clubs for deprived communities.
In line with FIFA 2010 World Cup, which MTN is the official sponsor, some of the projects to be embarked on would focus on the FIFA 2010 legacy on malaria, education through the 1-Goal initiative and football development initiatives.
Mr Gideon Quarcoo, Deputy Minister for Communication, commended MTN for the initiatives.
Mr Brett Goschen, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, said the challenge had proven to be a phenomenal success in all MTN's operations and added that he was glad to see employees volunteer their time and resources to help transform the communities in which they operate.
He commended staff for their commitments to the growth of the community enhancement programme.
Mrs Mawuena Trebarh, Executive Director of the MTN Ghana Foundation, said this year's Yello Care programme was expected to have a greater impact on the communities.
She said MTN believe it has a responsibility to the people, who have contributed to its success and therefore to gain resources to improve lives.
