The Atwima-Mponua District Assembly has pledged to reward the overall best candidate in this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with scholarship.
Mrs Theresa Adomako Tawiah, the District Chief Executive, said this was part of the drive towards raising academic performance in the district.
She was speaking after touring five out of the area's seven examination centres.
A total of 1,862 candidates from 53 public and three private schools are writing the BECE in the district.
Seven candidates did not show up at the five centres visited.
Mrs Tawiah expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the examination and urged the candidates and invigilators to make sure that they did not give room for cheating.
