National air-carrier Air India said it will resume its flights from and to Chicago from Monday
after the disruption of services in the past few days in to Europe and the US due to volcanic ashes from Iceland that made air-traffic impossible in European airspace.
AI 126 D (Chicago-Mumbai) is scheduled to depart from Chicago (ORD) at 4 pm (local time) and arrive in Mumbai on April 20 at 8.30 pm IST, a press release issed here said.
On the same day, AI 144 D (Newark-Ahmedabad) will depart from Newark at 2 pm (local time) and arrive at the western Indian city of Ahmedabad on April 20 at 5 pm IST, the release
said.
On April 20, AI 127/126 (Mumbai-Chicago-Mumbai) will be operated, with a technical halt in Cairo on both outbound and inbound routes. The flight will depart Mumbai at 1.05 am IST and reach Chicago at 12.25 pm (local time). The return flight leaving Chicago at 4.05 pm (local time) will reach Mumbai on April 21 at 9.40 pm IST, it said.
The airline will operate flight AI 191/144 on April 19 on the Delhi-Ahmedabad-Mumbai-Newark-Mumbai to clear the backlog of passengers between India and Newark, the release said.
AI 191 will leave Delhi at 10 pm IST on April 19, reach Ahmedabad at 11.30 pm, depart at 1.35 am on April 20, reach Mumbai at 2.40 am, depart at 4.30 am and reach Newark at 12.55 pm on April 21.
The return flight AI 144 departing Newark at 6.20 pm on April 20 will arrive Mumbai on April 21 at 9.05 pm.
Air India resumed its long-haul non-stop flights between India and the US on Sunday with the operation of AI 101/102 (Delhi-New York-Delhi) and AI 141/140 (Mumbai-New York-Mumbai), the release said.
