A three-member delegation of Pakistan High Commission visited Rajkot Central Jail to collect details of Pakistani fishermen kept in various jails in western India's Saurashtra region.
The three-member delegation was headed by Pakistan High Commission Secretary Saiyad Muhammal. It visited Rajkot Central Jail yesterday and met authorities and Pakistani fishermen lodged in various jails in the region, according to
Jail Superintendent S I Vora.
The delegation was accompanied by officials of the Indian Home Department.
The motive of the visit to was to collect details about Pakistan fishermen and to verify their identity, Vora said adding most of the fishermen claimed to have drifted into Indian water territory by mistake.
The delegation will submit its report to Pakistan government to take necessary steps to get them released.
Nearly 60 fishermen are lodged in jails in Jamnagar and Bhuj and all of them were brought to Central Jail Tuesday for verification of their identity.
