Some 498 Community Protection Assistants (CPA) of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) country wide are undergoing a six-week para military training at the Regional Police Training
School at Pwalungu in the Upper East Region.
At the opening ceremony were officers from the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Immigration Service.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Regional Police Public Relation Officer Chief Inspector Thomas Agbanyo.
The Director for Community Policing Unit Assistant Commissioner of Police Florence Arthur commended the NYEP for sustaining the programme.
She said the CPAs would be taken through vigorous training and service drill to condition them both physically and mentally to work with the Ghana Police Service in combating crime.
ACP Arthur urged them to conform to the rules and regulations that would bring them in line with the acceptable norms of behaviour of the
Police Service.
