National Press Club Islamabad president Afzal Butt Tuesday extended an invitation to local journalists to visit Pakistan to take stock of the situation of people living along the international border.
Butt during his visit to the city said people living along the Indo-Pak border in both countries led a "hard life sans basic amenities, including
poor road infrastructure".
Butt said that on reaching Islamabad he would take up the issue with his country's Foreign Minister and Foreign Secretary to facilitate the visits of scribes working at Amritsar in India to visit Pakistan on reciprocal basis.
The press club president said he would hand over a list of Amritsar-based journalists to the minister so that he could to direct the
Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi to extend visa to Indian journalists, and thereafter journalists working in Lahore in Pakistan could
also visit Amritsar.
Butt was accompanied by the Pakistan Hockey Federation president Qasim Zia.
