A heavy rainstorm that hit Yilo and Manya Krobo districts on Saturday ripped off the roofs of many buildings including the Mount Mary College of Education and other school buildings.
At least 3,905 people have been displaced while 405 houses had either their roofs ripped off or the entire structure collapsing.
The roofs of eight Junior High Schools were ripped-off and seven persons were injured.
The Mount Mary College of Education had its kitchen, sick bay, bakery and science laboratory severely hit by the rainstorm and trees uprooted but no casualty was recorded.
This was made known by the Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr Ransford Owusu Boakye, when the Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, visited the districts.
He said tents, mattresses and a few relief items had been made available to the displaced persons whiles the rest were putting up with
relatives and friends.
Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said he was surprised at the level of destruction at the Mount Mary College where trees had been uprooted and fell on buildings.
He expressed concern about how new classroom blocks had been affected by the rainstorm and questioned the quality of the job.
