The University of Mines and Technology at Tarkwa will have fire suppression and security surveillance systems installed in all sections of the university by April.
Prof Daniel Mireku-Gyimah, the Vice Chancellor, said this at a ceremony at which Newmont Ghana Gold Limited presented 500,000 dollarss cheque to the
university on Wednesday.
He said the presentation had become very critical following fire outbreaks across the country and the University will not like to become a victim.
Prof. Mireku-Gyimah said the money would be used to acquire the suppressors.
Presenting the cheque Mr. Chris Anderson, the Director of Corporate Affairs of the Newmont, said the package formed part of its corporate social
responsibility programme and also to assist in the training and development of the human resource base of the country.
