Mr S.O. Kusi-Appiah, Ashanti Regional Coordinating Director, has asked private school owners not to take undue advantage of the high demand for their services and charge exuberant school fees.
He advised them to be patriotic and contribute to the development of education to improve the country's human resource base instead of seeking to attain high profit.
Mr Kusi-Appiah was addressing a parade of more than 3,000 school children from private basic and senior high schools in Kumasi, as part of activities marking the Ashanti Regional celebration of the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) Week, in Kumasi.
He said government has recognized the contribution of the private school owners to the development of education in the country.
Mr Kusi-Appiah asked the Association to liaise with the Ministry of Education to address challenges facing private schools.
He advised parents to invest in the education of their children to enable them to acquire values, knowledge and skills, which he said was the best
legacy they could bequeath to their children.
Mr Kusi-Appiah asked school children to learn hard so that they could pass their examinations to justify the huge investments being made in their
education by their parents and government.
Mr Michael Appiah, Regional Chairman of GNAPS, lauded the participating schools and children for their active involvement in the celebration.
