Middlesex University in the United Kingdom is working on the possibility of establishing a campus in Ghana to serve all of West Africa.
To this end, the Middlesex University Alumni Association in Ghana would be officially launched at the British Council on February 12.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, Mrs Lara Cookey, an alumnus of the University, said the launch would also provide an avenue for alumni in Ghana to network and socialize as well as offer services to communities in Ghana, such as building a library to rival that of the University in London.
Middlesex University offers a wide range of subjects in Business, Computing, Engineering, Law, Health, Social Sciences, Arts and Education.
Mrs Cookey noted that with campuses in the UK, Dubai and Mauritius, the University would give students the opportunity to experience various cultures.
Middlesex University teamed up with Mrs. Cookey to establish its Ghana Office since 2005, to recruit students from Ghana to study at the University.
According to Mrs Cookey, Middlesex University's Ghana Regional Office was currently located at Dzorwulu, Bayere Junction, and was solely responsible for processing applications of prospective students to the London, Dubai and Mauritius campuses, offering advice on career choice and visa application procedure. It conducts recruitment for Middlesex University exclusively.
Dignitaries attending the formal launch would include Professor Rajinder Gill, Pro Vice Chancellor of Middlesex University and Regional Director for Africa, Pakistan and the Middle East, and Mr. Amartya Ray, General Manager, Middlesex University Gulf Office.
