A leopard was caught by villagers when he strayed into a farm in the village in Kollam district of south Indian state of Kerala.
It was later handed over to wildlife officials by local people.
The male cat that made its way into the farmyard got trapped in netted fencing and found it difficult to disentangle at Edamon Chittlialmkode village, close to the Thenmala hills.
The sight of the hapless feline soon drew a crowd around it. Some of the local people informed the police and the Wildlifeofficials of the plight of the leopard.
A team of forest officials, skilled in tackling wild animals, arrived from the district headquarters and caught the leopard without causing any harm. The animal weighed about 40 kg, sources said.
The cat was later taken to the Zoo in the state capital.
