Mr James Kofi Annan, Executive Director of Challenging Heights, a non-governmental organisation in Winneba, has called on parents to support the fight against child trafficking.
He reminded the public that human trafficking is a crime under the Children's Act 1998, and Act 560.
Mr. Annan in an interview with GNA in Winneba on Thursday, expressed worry that some parents released their children for other people to engage
them in fishing, especially along the Volta Lake, affecting their education and health.
He called on the police and other security agencies to enforce laws on human trafficking.
Mr. Annan said the NGO was working hard to rescue children from the Effutu Municipality doing fishing along the Volta Lake and reunite them with
their parents.
