A strike of 70 workers of the Bulgarian State Railways protesting against unpaid wages at Sofia Central Station hit train schedules Monday.
The international train to Bucharest delayed 123 minutes, several other trains were late between 30 and 50 minutes.
People went on strike at the start of the morning shift at 7:00 local time (0500 GMT) Monday. The strikers required 14,500 railway workers to receive their unpaid wages for November 2009, Peter Bunev, head of the railroad trade unions told reporters.
The strike was stopped about three hours later when the management of the Bulgarian State Railways assured that the wages will be paid on Tuesday.
The wages delayed with eleven days because of unpaid state subsidy, Pencho Popov, Railways executive director told reporters. The transfer of state subsidy for January is always late, he added.
There were troubles with payment of the wages in the state railways several times in 2009 and about 2,000 people will be fired because of the economic crisis.
