India Monday successfully test fired a short range Astra air-to-air missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) off the eastern state of Orissa, said Defense Ministry sources.
The missile was tested at the Chandipur test range, about 230 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar, at about 09:45 a.m., said the sources
The sources said another Astra missile would be tested from the same test range Monday.
Astra is designed to intercept enemy aircraft at supersonic speeds in head-one mode of a range of 80 km and in tail-chase mode of 20 km.
