Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, Gomoa West District Chief Executive, has advised drivers to accept the new fares fixed by their various unions following the hike in prices of petroleum products.
"Cooperate with your unions to make the exercise a success," he said when speaking to some drivers at Apam in the Central Region on Tuesday.
Mr Aidoo-Mensah said it was unfortunate that some drivers kicked against the fixed fares and were charging arbitrary fares.
He warned that government would not sit down unconcerned for some few drivers to take the nation to ransom.
"Either you accept the new fares and operate peacefully in the District or you remove your services," Mr Aidoo-Mensah stressed.
He said the hike in the prices of petroleum as a result of the removal of the subsidy covering the product was in the interest of Ghanaians.
