The Gomoa Fomena School Management Committee (SMC) in collaboration with the chiefs of the town, has enacted bye-laws that would sanction boys who impregnate school girls.
Similarly, parents of such boys would be summoned to the palace to face stiffer punishment.
Mr Ato Nyarkoh, Chairman of the SMC made this known when Campaign for Female Education (Camfed), a Non profitable organization, presented school materials to 10 Junior High schools in the Gomoa West of the Central Region at Gomoa Fomena.
The materials include school bags, new shoes, sanitary pads, pens and others.
According to the chairman, the move was to help curb teenage pregnancy and also to promote child-children education and to also check rampant pregnancy of school girls, especially final year JHS students.
Mr Nyarko warned parents whose children had benefited from Camfed bursary to take good care of them to enable them climb higher on the education ladder.
Ms Albert Bruce, Gomoa West Girl-Child Officer of Ghana Education Service (GES), assisted by some members of other district education committee made the presentation on behalf of the Camfed.
Ms Bruce appealed to the two traditional authorities in the Gomoa Area - Gomoa Akyempim and Ajumako Traditional, to institute bye-laws for the various towns and villages to help check teenage pregnancy among schools girls.
She said the Camfed had also extended its benefits to 260 female students at Gomoa Dawurampong and Mozano Senior High schools for this academic year.
Ms Bruce said Camfed would soon launch "Go to school education drive" in the Gomoa West to encourage more girl-child to enroll in school.
The NGO in March, 2011 launched a programme to promote girl-child education in the Gomoa West under which it offered scholarship to some selected girls to attend JSS to SHS.
