Gospel singer, Helina, had to pinch herself to be sure she wasn’t dreaming as she took her first ride in her new Toyota Vitz saloon car at the end of the Next Gospel Star Season 5 reality show where she came up tops on December 15, 2024 at the National Theatre.
Of course, it was her dream to win the contest. That was why she put in everything she could to beat the six other finalists: Elikem, Selby Ann, Doathess, Lady C, Millian and Kofi Kodie to grab the GHC10,000 and recording contract that came in addition to the car.
Winning the contest, however, didn’t come easily for her as Elikem and Doathess were also in overdrive for the first prize but they had to settle for second and third places respectively. They got home with GHC7,000 and GHC5,000 each.
Dr. Alfred Addaquay, one of the judges for the night, performed some of his self-composed Christmas carols. The other judges were Dr. Ben Amakye Boateng and Chris Appau.
Helina was presented with the key to her car by Mr. Joe Osae, CEO of Ceejay Multimedia, organisers of the competition. Mr Osae was also the director and producer of the show.

He congratulated the three top winners and applauded the four other finalists – Selby Ann, Lady C, Millian and Kofi Kodie – for holding out their own so strongly at the final event. In fact, he was grateful to all the 21 competitors the reality show kicked off with 13 weeks ago.
The Ceejay Multimedia boss will on Friday, December 20 travel with Helina, Elikem and Doathess to Akosombo for a weekend stay at the Volta Hotel, by courtesy of the management of the hotel and Dodi World.
He expressed appreciation to the Almighty God for guiding him and the production crew through a grueling period that came with little or no sponsorship.
“My prayer is that someday, all the Christian brothers and sisters in this country will come together and contribute to a laudable initiative like the Next Gospel Star to unearth more of our budding gospel music singers,” Mr Osae said.

He thanked all members of his production team, especially Psalmone and Mabel Germain for their hard work, adding that the committed patrons and fans of the Next Gospel Star 2024 could not be left out from the roster of those who contributed to the show’s success.
“We also say a big thank you to Twellium Industrial Co. Ltd., producers of Bigoo Drinks; Volta Hotel and Dodi World; Flora Joy and the Akwaaba Festival 2025 organizing secretariat for their support.”
Next in line for Ceejay Multimedia is its Akwaaba Festival billed for March 6 to March 8, 2025 at the National Theatre. It is scheduled to be three days of celebrating Ghana’s cultural heritage and tourism.
