FOUNDER and CEO of Ghana Music Awards UK (GMA-UK), Nii Ofori Tackie popularly known as Alordia has revealed it has been an arduous task organising the music awards scheme.
However, the words ‘giving up’ do not exist in his dictionary no matter the circumstances so he has no plans of calling it quits.
Speaking in an interview with Graphic Showbiz at the recently launched 7th edition of GMA-UK at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra, Alordia dispelled the impression that organising such events is easy.
“A lot of people think organising such awards come easy but trust me, without sponsorship, putting together these shows is very challenging. You need a lot of money to organise such a prestigious event.
“You need to pay for the venue, hire very good sound system for the event and pay MC or whoever you need on the show to make it successful.
“The event started without sponsorship and we did it alone for five years. However we are glad to have Tabea Herbal as title sponsors. They came on board last year and they are with us this time around,” he said.
Giving reasons why he is so passionate about the awards ceremony, Alordia whose Alordia Promotions organises GMA-UK said the award scheme benefits a lot of Ghanaian musicians.
“Mind you, the awards is not just for Ghanaian musicians but also acts in UK. There have been very successful collaborations between the GH artistes and those based outside the country. And business wise, GMA- UK has contributed alot and I am proud to say that it was through some of us”, he added.
This year’s GMA-UK will come off at Royal Regency Palace in UK on October 7, 2023 and Alordia tells Graphic Showbiz his outfit is more than ready for the event.
“We are 100 percent ready for the event come October 7. We improve every year learning from our short falls and we believe this year’s edition is going to be fantastic. Everything is in place. GMA-UK will never die or fold up rather, we keep growing each year” he stated.
