For Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, the VGMA Nominees Jam stage was the perfect place for him to canvass for votes.
The Nominees Jam came off yesterday, April 6 at the Kumasi City Mall and when he mounted the stage to loud cheers from the huge crowd, he appealed to them to vote for him to win the Artiste of the Year.
Shatta Wale is competing with Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, Kuami Eugene and King Promise for the topmost award at the VGMA.
He thrilled the crowd with some of his hit songs like My Level, Thunder Fire, Island, Bullet Proof among others and before he ended his performance he paused and said, “as you are clapping for me make sure you are voting, vote for me so that I can come back to Kumasi and play a show for you, vote for me so that we can celebrate.”
Shatta Wale also reminded the crowd about how long it had been since he won a big award at the VGMA.
“It’s been long since we won Artiste of the Year and it won’t be bad if we win it again hands down," he stated.
With artistes like Stonebwoy, Kwaku Gyasi, Yaa Pono, Flowking Stone, Kumawood actor Lilwin among others also hitting the stage, the VGMA Nominees Jam was overall an okay show.
The main awards for the VGMA has been scheduled for May 18 but the organisers, Charterhouse are yet to state the venue for the event, which is in its 20th year.
