Gabrielle Union is not one of those people who dread birthdays.
Union, whose 46th birthday is Oct. 29, began celebrating another year on the planet early, with a weekend bash in Miami. “Looking back at the last 45 years and thinkin, Damn, I’ve had a good ass time!” she captioned a photo, taken from behind, of her wearing a crocheted string bikini. She added that she was especially thankful for her friends, family, and job.
It looked like the party for the occasion — a costume bash — was something to be thankful for too. Dwyane Wade, Union’s husband of four years, posted a cute clip of the couple (and the entire crowd) singing to each other while Mary J. Blige’s song “I’m Goin’ Down” played in the background.
The guest of honor, who dressed as old-school Gwen Stefani, also performed with Lil Kim on the rapper’s remix of “Crush on You,” while Wade cheered from the crowd. At the end of it, Union and Kim exchanged hugs and kind words.
Stefani wasn’t at Union’s party, but she was flattered by the actress’s choice to dress like she did in the 1996 video for No Doubt’s song “Spiderwebs.” After the Being Mary Jane star shared a clip showing her costume, complete with a soundtrack of “Just a Girl,” Stefani noted that it made her “soooooo happy!!”
A happy birthday, indeed.
