Hosted by well-known actor, David Dontoh and assisted by Abena Akuffo, Agrofie is a magazine programme which has been in existence since 2011. It is produced by Osmo Nana Kwame Addo's Katamadara Concepts company.

The programme which shows on GTV and TV7 on Saturday evenings, seeks to impart discerning information on cultural practices, social behaviour and development attitudes to viewers in an entertaining way. Participants usually win a variety of prizes.

United States

According to Kwame Addo, the Executive Producer, it had long been his wish to take the programme to the United States. He was grateful to Ambassador Dr Barfour Adjei-Barwuah and his staff, as well as the Ghana Councils in the States to be toured and the American Embassy in Accra, for editions of the programme to be recorded in the United States.

Other places beside Ghana which has hosted the popular Vodafone Cash Agrofie since its inception, include South Africa, Gabon, United Arab Emirates, Equitorial Guinea and Holland.

Locally, the programme had accepted numerous invitations from outfits such as educational institutions, corporate bodies, traditional festivals, churches and town councils to record editions of the show.

Doorsteps
"We are happy to be taking the programme to the doorsteps of the Ghanaian Diaspora in the United States. Apart from the general entertainment value, Agrofie offers useful information on our tourism, traditions, values and ideals as a nation. We trust the shows will go down well with our people there," said David Dontoh.

He pointed out that the programme's usual segments such as quiz, Wheel of Fortune, Treasure Box and Music interlude will all feature in the American shows as well as an additional section for audiences to send goodwill messages to friends and relations back home.

"Those who win cash prizes will be paid through Vodafone Cash. They are ably backed by People's Pension Trust (PPT) and Kasapreko Company Limited who will have some of their products available at all the shows."

Performers
"Highlife stars, Pat Thomas and Bisa K'Dei, will also be around to entertain so we are all looking forward to some thrilling education-laced fun time in the United States," the programme's Executive Producer added.

The 13-member Vodafone Cash Agrofie production team will leave Accra on Wednesday, July 25 for the recordings in Chicago (July 28), Atlanta (August 4) and Ohio (August 11).

"Requests have come from Ghanaians in other states for us to record episodes where they are but America is big and we cannot cover everywhere in one trip. The idea is to go back another time to make more of our people happy," stated Kwame Addo.
