The European Union (EU) has allocated some 200
million euro (about 299.3 million U.S. dollars) of funds to develop Indonesia's basic education in the next three years, which is the largest of its education programs in Asia,according to the EU's document distributed to the media on Monday.
Besides that, the EU would continue providing 70-100 scholarships for Indonesian students each year under the EU's Erasmus Mundus program alongside with several hundred scholarship programs offered by individual EU governments.
The document also said that related to the recently-signed comprehensive Partnership Cooperation Agreement between Indonesia and the EU, a major EU-Indonesia Education Fair would be held in Jakarta next year.
