The World Bank rejected Costa Rica's credit request for 15 million U.S. dollars to repair the most damaged bridges in the country, Costa Rican President Oscar Arias said Thursday
Costa Rica requested an access to its credit line of 60 million dollars, which was rejected by the bank for it does not consider the bridge repair as urgent.
The Costa Rican government planned to repair at least 10 bridges in the country, for which the Public Works and Transports Ministry got only 2.7
billion colones (4.6 million U.S. dollars) from the Treasury.
According to Arias, one of the most damaged bridges collapsed on Oct. 21, killing five people.
