Nigeria's Minister of Commerce and Industry Achike Udenwa called on foreign investors to explore Nigeria's trade potential as the hub of business activities in Africa, the News Agency of Nigeria reported on Saturday.
The minister made the call on Friday in Abuja when an Iranian trade delegation paid him a courtesy call, saying Nigeria's business advantage
could not be underestimated.
He urged the delegation to take advantage of the visit to go round Nigeria and exploit its business opportunities.
"We have so much in this country that I may not be able to tell you on the spot but I will advise that you go round for yourselves to know what you will want to invest in," he said.
"Lots of business opportunities abound in the country even in the power sector because we also have alternative power sources that could be
explored," he added.
"We are also doing a lot in the agricultural and manufacturing sectors of our economy as well as the development of local raw materials that could benefit foreign investors," Udenwa said.
According to the minister, the trade figure between the two countries needed to be improved.
"There is need for us as countries to know ourselves properly and to improve on our trade relations if we must effectively harness our individual potential and natural endowments," he said.
Earlier, Hedayat Hatami, the leader of the delegation, said Nigeria was an endowed and wealthy country, which his country could not afford not to do business with.
He expressed optimism that the visit to Nigeria would open up business opportunities and foster economic relationship.
