The number of tourists visiting Nepal via air in October has increased by 10.8 percent.
The latest statistics of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) show that 56,009 tourists arrived in Nepal in October compared to 50, 567 during the same period last year.
According to Monday's The Kathmandu Post, this is the fifth consecutive month that Nepal has witnessed positive growth in international tourist
arrivals.
According to the NTB, a growth in Indian and Chinese arrivals has been a major contributing factor in the overall increase in inbound tourism.
The rise in the number of Indian and Chinese tourists shows that regional tourism can play a pivotal role in increasing overall visitor
arrivals.
The NTB has strategically segmented India and China as prime markets, and accordingly has accorded higher priority to promotional activities in these markets.
The month of October saw a robust growth of 20.1 percent and 116.4 percent in visitor arrivals from India and China respectively. Arrivals from
Asia (other than South Asia) have recorded positive growth.
The growth from China and the Netherlands can be attributed to the addition of two new airlines in 2009.
