The National Board For Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) has since its inception fulfilled its mandate of fostering the growth of Micro and Small Scale Enterprises (MSEs) to create a more vibrant entrepreneurial society.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Asante-Mampong on Thursday, Mr Thomas Fofie, Head of Mampong Business Advocacy Centre (BUSAC) of NBSSI said the Board had made giant strides in grass-cutter and snail rearing, batik tie and dye production, gari processing and pomade making.
Mr Fofie indicated that the NBSSI had also contributed to the creation of an enabling environment for enterprise culture.
He said the Board had been able to improve competitiveness of MSEs by facilitating the provision of business development programmes and integrated support services.
Mr Fofie cited the collaboration of NBSSI and the Asante-Mampong College of Agriculture which saw the organisation of a workshop recently to upgrade the skills of participants drawn from the traditional council.
He added that the Board not-withstanding its contribution was confronted with challenges such as the lack of funds and vehicles to facilitate its smooth operations and called on the government and stakeholders to assist them.
