U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner Monday urged his counterparts of the Group of Seven (G-7) to act promptly to restore health to the global economy.
A statement released by the Treasury said that Geithner held a conference meeting with finance ministers of G-7 early Monday.
"His outreach underscored the imperative of all countries acting promptly to restore health to the global economy and financial sectors," said the statement.
"He looks forward to further discussions on this topic with G-7 ministers in Rome this weekend," it added.
The G-7 meeting, which brought together financial officials of the United States, Germany, Japan, France, Britain, Italy and Canada, will kick off this weekend in Rome, Italy for the first time since the inauguration of U.S. President Barack Obama.
