The Kumasi Sector of the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) collected a total sum of 24,775,909.25 Ghana cedis in revenue mobilization for 2008 as against a target of 12,240,000 Ghana cedis.
Alhaji Imoru Farouk Adam, Sector Commander, who disclosed this, said the figure indicates that the sector exceeded its target by 102 per cent.
He was speaking at the annual get-together of the sector in Kumasi at the weekend.
The party was to help the sector evaluate its performance and adopt effective measure to improve on its performance in the years ahead.
Alhaji Adam attributed the success of the sector in the revenue mobilization to pragmatic operational measures, increased levels of voluntary compliance, strong government support and exemplary
performance of officers.
"Our successful operation last year was also due largely to the co-operation CEPS received from other agencies, especially the security and revenue agencies and public at large," he said.
He commended the officers and men of the sector for their hard work and diligence to duty and hoped this year they will work even harder to realized the goals of CEPS.
