Poland will be active in the EU to prevent a gas crisis of recent weeks from happening again, Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said on Thursday.
The recent Russian-Ukrainian gas crisis made Poland's arguments more credible, Polish news agency PAP quoted Sikorski as saying during his visit to London.
"This is the topic for Poland's activity in the EU, as the EU has financial and legal instruments to safeguard its members against such crises," Sikorski said.
"I am presenting arguments which have been presented for Polish governments in recent years and which just gained credibility. We were saying that there is a problem with security of supplies but we were not fully believed, now we are believed," the minister said.
EU Foreign Ministers will discuss energy issues in Brussels on Monday, he said.
"I think that the European Commission, which monitored and influenced events during this crisis, is aware of the gravity of the situation and will propose solutions which will help cope with what is an above-national problem," Sikorski said.
