The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced a delay in the inaugural direct flight from London Gatwick to Kumasi Prempeh I International Airport, initially scheduled for December 3, 2024.
In a press statement issued on December 2, GACL attributed the rescheduling to "the short notice given for the special flight." The flight will now arrive later this week, although an exact date has not been provided.
"The second flight, scheduled for the 15th of December 2024, remains unchanged," the statement assured.
The new service, operated in collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines, represents a historic step for Ghana’s aviation sector, making Kumasi the country’s first city outside Accra to host a direct commercial international flight from London.
This initiative aligns with GACL's commitment to expanding air travel options, boosting regional connectivity, and fostering tourism, trade, and investment opportunities for Kumasi and the Ashanti Region.
Travellers and stakeholders are encouraged to monitor GACL’s official platforms for updates on the inaugural flight's revised arrival date.
