The Ashanti Sub-Transmission of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has organised a three-day training for its control engineers and system operators to build their capacity for more efficient and effective discharge of duties.
The training was to equip the participants with the necessary skills to deal with any emergencies during and beyond the December general election.
It formed part of the company’s preparedness strategy intended to build the confidence of the participants to professionally execute their duties as controllers and system operators under any challenging circumstances.
Eighty-eight system operators and controllers took part in the training which was facilitated by the staff of ECG including the control engineer, Accra Sub-T, Kurt Festus Prange, and the Manager for Protection and Control, Ashanti Sub-Transmission, Christopher Anafo.
Speaking at the training at the Boadi ECG substation, the General Manager of the Ashanti Sub-Transmission of ECG, Peter Fletcher, urged the participants to use the knowledge gained to lead the charge as the ECG charts a new course in improved service delivery in all of its operational areas.
He also assured the general public that ECG, as a stakeholder in the socio-economic development of Ghana, “is committed to providing quality, safe and reliable electricity. We are ready to ensure supply reliability to meet all energy needs."
The Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Sub-Transmission, Collins Manu, said the training showed ECG's dedication to operational efficiency and its preparedness to serve the nation in any circumstance.
“Improving operational efficiency is part of our core mandate so the training forms an integral part of our dual-layered strategy to ensure supply reliability through preventive maintenance and to enhance manpower readiness through capacity building," Mr Manu stated.
