The 3rd edition of the Ghana Corporate Brands Awards (GCBA) 2024 has concluded in Accra where 21 Ghanaian businesses and five personalities have been recognised for their consistency and versatility of corporate brands in Ghana.
This year’s event themed, “Innovate, Lead, Thrive: Honoring Ghana’s Trailblazers in Branding. Leadership, and Marketing Excellence Navigating with Consistency and Sophistication to Embrace Evolving Trends and Customer Needs”, highlighted the relevance of excellence in customer service.
Delivering the keynote address, Yahaya Zakaria Osman - Director, Operations - Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) mentioned that thriving in today’s dynamic business environment requires resilience, adaptability, and a deep understanding of market dynamics and that the awardees of the night have not only survived but have thrived—setting benchmarks of excellence in branding, marketing strategies, and customer engagement.
According to him, brand leadership is not merely about holding a title or occupying a corner office. It is about vision, courage, and the ability to inspire others to achieve greatness. The Corporate Brands and Individuals we honor tonight have steered their organizations to success and paved the way for others to follow.
Notable personalities from traditional authorities and government including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Akuapeman Rural Bank PLC Mr. Kingsley Kyere, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) Mr. Kwasi Agyeman Busia, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Mr. Kofi Baah Agyepong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mayfair Estates Limited Dr. Noble John Watson Otumfuo, and Head, Corporate Communications, Ghana Gas Company Limited Mr. Ernest Owusu-Bempah Bonsu graced the ceremony.
The event featured renowned dignitaries such as Hon. Nico Van Staalduinen – Consul of Bulgaria, Mad. Colette Amaeshi – Managing Director – Ringier Ghana Limited (Pulse Ghana), Mr. Edward Ashong-Lartey – Head, Investor Services – GIPC, Mrs. Eva Ando-Poku – CEO, Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Prof. John K. M. Mawutor – Pro-Vice Chancellor – University of Professional Studies, Mr. Kwame Twumasi Gyamfi – Assistant Registrar/ Facility Officer and Mr. Kingsley Kofi Yeboah – Client Officer – University of Professional Studies.
At the event, Mr. Evans Hockey, the Secretary of the Awarding Board, explained that the awards program was designed to be inclusive and engaging, allowing industry professionals and the public to contribute to recognizing and selecting outstanding business achievements.
He detailed that industry experts rigorously evaluated award candidates through a thorough market survey. This survey was conducted among professionals and was representative of middle- and high-income earners.
Mr. Hockey emphasized that the winners were evaluated against several criteria, including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Brand Consistency, Innovation and Technology Adoption, Brand Appeal and Goodwill, Leadership and Governance, Product/Service Quality, and Market Impact and Growth.
