Unilever Ghana PLC has emphasised its commitment to maintaining its legacy as a household brand offering affordable products while catering to the needs of its consumers. This was at the 60th anniversary launch of Ghana’s number one multipurpose soap, Key Soap.
Speaking at the launch, the Managing Director of Unilever Ghana PLC, Mr. George Owusu-Ansah said that Key Soap had been a trusted partner since 1963 and had kept clothes clean and fresh. He said that as “Amansan Boafo” (Helper of the People), it had undergone some innovations, such as the introduction of wrapped bars and new pack sizes, to make it convenient to carry around and cater to the diverse preferences of consumers.
“Amidst these transformations, we're thrilled to announce today the launch of the "Key Amansan Aky3de3 Promo" in celebration of Key's 60 years in existence. This national consumer promotion is not just about exciting offers, it's about connecting with you, our cherished consumers, and creating moments of joy and celebration. We truly appreciate the loyalty you have shown us over the past six decades,” he noted.
Ms. Theodora Kasu, Category Manager at Unilever Ghana PLC, said that Key Soap was an affordable brand that offered value to all Ghanaians, and in line with that, they had redesigned their approach to reconnecting with consumers.
She noted that the National Consumer Promotion embodies the essence of Key Soap’s enduring legacy, embracing the spirit of innovation and consumer engagement.
“Our promotion is designed to be inclusive and interactive, inviting consumers to participate by purchasing a bar of Key Soap in various sizes,” she added.
To partake in the promo, consumers are to scratch a panel to reveal a unique short code, which should be texted to 1963. Prizes consumers stand to win in the promo include pure diamonds, cash rewards, and branded souvenirs and products.
Ms. Kasu stated that beyond the prizes to be won, the promotion was aimed at forging deeper connections, creating memorable experiences, and empowering consumers to be part of the Key Soap journey.
Mr. Youannes Amaah, Mayor of Tema, described Key Soap as an iconic brand that had served Ghanaians for decades. He emphasised the need to support Ghanaian-made brands such as Key Soap in order to create jobs and boost the economy.
He commended Unilever Ghana PLC for offering affordable soap for everyone.
The Supervisor for Promotions at the National Lottery Association (NLA), Ms.Beryl Adom, expressed the NLA’s commitment to providing free and fair promotions in the country. She noted that the NLA was mandated by law to run lotteries in Ghana, hence the introduction of the Caritas Lottery Platform for companies to run their promotions with elements of the lottery under their supervision.
