Meet Ruth Awintanga, a talented female poultry farmer who is making waves in Ghana's poultry industry. Her business, Dolwin Poultry Farms, is situated in Bongo, in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
Dolwin Farms is a community-based poultry enterprise that was founded in July 2021. It seeks to address issues such as malnutrition, high prices, and an insufficient supply of poultry products. Their product range includes layers, eggs, cockerels, Guinea fowls, and turkeys.
Ruth Awintanga won the title of 'Miss Agriculture' at the 2022 Ghana Food Festival in Accra. The event was held under the theme 'Youth and Women Participation in Agribusiness: Telling Our Story, Then and Now', to inspire more women to venture into agribusiness by showcasing the success stories of women in the field. The pageant was organized by ‘Women in Agribusiness Ghana. under the auspices of the 2022 National Best Farmer.
Ruth Awintanga is ambitious and has plans to include a fish pond and maize farm in her future endeavours.
