The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has assured customers of the Shell fuel filling station at Adomi Bridge, Atimpoku, in the Eastern Region whose vehicles were damaged after they were sold water–laced petroleum products of a redress.
According to the NPA, it will compel the Oil Marketing Company to fix the vehicles of affected customers.
The NPA had on Monday, shut down the operations of the station after it sold substandard products to unsuspecting customers.
This follows a widely circulated video on social media and a subsequent complaint made to the Authority on August 29 about a suspected contaminated fuel purchase from the station.
The NPA said its team undertook a water content presence test, and a dip into the well of the outlet indicated the presence of water.
In a statement, the authority stated that the management of Vivo Energy in a letter addressed to the Authority suggested that water entered the underground Super tank after heavy rain in the area.
Meanwhile, management of the Vivo Energy Ghana apologized to the affected customers while adding that it was making efforts to reach out to affected customers to salvage the situation.
It further stated that its engineers were working to pump out the water whiles further investigations continue to permanently resolve the issue and prevent a reoccurrence.
