Telecommunications giant, Vodafone Ghana has announced plans to introduce its e-learning platform, Instant Schools, to over 100,000 students across the country before the year ends.
The Legal and External Affairs Director of Vodafone Ghana, Geta Striggner-Quartey, made this known when Vodafone’s Senior Management Team led an activation to introduce students and teachers of the State Boys High School, and State Girls Junior High School to the e-learning platform. Vodafone Instant Schools is a portal that offers a wide range of free teaching and learning materials with the click of a button.
This is one of many activities by Vodafone’s leadership as part of a nationwide working tour to engage with customers, staff, agents and stakeholders across the country.
Commenting on the initiative, Geta reiterated Vodafone’s commitment to empowering and transforming societies using education and digital technology.
"Our education portfolio has been focused on developing initiatives that are transforming teaching and learning in Ghana. Our aim this year is to onboard over 100,000 teachers and students onto the Instant Schools portal as it has proven beneficial to the schools we visited in the past," she said.
"It has been an exciting experience for us, spending time with students from 11 schools in the Ashanti Region. Over 3000 students in these schools can now confidently navigate our platform to adequately prepare for exams and the future. I would like to commend the school authorities and the teachers, as well as the Ghana Library Authority, for their support. We believe our visit will also inspire the students, especially the girls, to take their education and future career seriously. "
Geta further highlighted other educational initiatives by the Vodafone Ghana Foundation to help develop young men and women in Ghana.
"We also have a National Coding Programme, which has equipped thousands of Ghanaian youth with vital computer programming and coding skills. Currently, our monthly STEM Birthday Stars and Vodafone-Ghana Library ICT Hubs continue to support and empower the youth with essential digital skills, "she said.
Vodafone Instant Schools was launched in 2016 to deliver a wide range of basic to advanced learning materials online and give unlimited access to everyone.
