KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, will deliver 77 escalators to Metro Line 3 in Nanchang, the capital and largest city of Jiangxi Province in southeastern China. Currently, the Nanchang metro has two lines in service. Two more lines are under construction and in the long run, the Nanchang metro network is expected to have altogether five lines.
The Nanchang Metro Line 3 will be 28.5 kilometers in length and travel between the south and the north of the city. KONE will equip seven of the 22 underground stations from Qingshan Road station to Jingdong Avenue station with 77 KONE Transit Master™ 140 escalators. After completion, the Metro Line 3 will move 50,000 passengers a day and connect with lines 1, 2, 4 and 5 through four transferring stations.
“We are very happy to be trusted to provide our People Flow solutions to this project that will significantly help to ease the traffic burden in Nanchang. The new metro line will also have an important role in the development of some of the older areas in the city, contributing to the development of Nanchang overall,” said William B. Johnson, Executive Vice President for KONE Greater China.
The project is estimated to be completed in the end of 2020, and it is developed by China Railway Electrification Engineering Group Co., Ltd., Shanghai Branch.
KONE booked the order in the fourth quarter of 2019.
