The benchmark index moderated by 1.46 points (-0.06%) to close at 2,328.79 with a -9.46% year-to-date return due to losses in two consumer goods stocks while market capitalization declined by 0.03% to settle at GH¢58.06 billion.
The GSE Financial Index closed flat at yesterday’s level of 2,047.85 with a -4.92% year-to-date return.
Fan Milk Ghana Limited (-1.54%) and Benso Oil Palm Plantation (-5.60%) dragged the SAS Manufacturing Index down by 22.58 points to close at 3,910.17 with a -15.97% year-to-date return.
Trading activity weakened with 6,304 shares valued at GH¢16,354 changing hands compared to 2,541,120 shares valued at GH¢5,334,973 yesterday. GCB Bank Limited dominated trades, accounting for 35.76% of total volume traded and 68.22% of total value traded.
We expect increased activity in financial stocks due to outstanding bids at the next session.
