The Sunyani West District Assembly (SWDA) has inaugurated 40 unit market stalls, built at a cost GHS84,661.61 at Tainso, a predominantly farming community, to boost the economic activities of the people.
The project, which was funded from the assembly's share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), has facilities for urinal and washrooms.
Mr. Martin Obeng, the District Chief Executive (DCE), urged the chiefs and people to show ownership of the market – take good care of the structures for their own benefit and that of the future generation.
He noted that many such development projects tended to deteriorate in no time because the beneficiary communities often failed to maintain them, and said, this was something they should do everything to avoid.
The DCE said the goal was to increase commercial activities in the area to better the lives of the people.
He encouraged the people to continue to live in peace and harmony, telling them that, there could not be progress in the absence of peace.
Mrs. Beatrice Boatenmaa, the District Engineer, said construction works on the project started in October 2016.
