As part of Ghana's agenda to go paperless, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia will on Friday 5th April, 2019, launch the Ghana Revenue Authority's new e-tax services platform iTaPS (Integrated Tax Preparation System) that will allow Ghanaians access GRA's services online. The first Phase which will be rolled out after the launch will allow tax payers to register online using their TIN Numbers.
In a detailed presentation on the use of iTaPs held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, journalists were taken through the various models that make up the platform which include the filing of Annual Tax Returns for both companies and individuals, Tax Clearance Certificate application, Withholding Tax Certificate application, Withholding Tax Exemptions Application, filing of Annual Tax returns (monthly and annual PAYE ) amongst others.
The team urged Ghanaians to embrace this new move as it will increase ease of doing business, reduce cost and time, allow customers to keep their own records, improve the quality of returns and offer revenue assurance.
The team also assured Tax Payers that the platform is very secure with the GRA being granted an international security certificate to that effect. They will be working with other institutions such as the National Identification Authority (NLA), the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and more to merge client data.
With the informal sector in mind, the manual platform for filing tax returns and other services will still go on at all GRA offices for those who cannot access the platform while measures are still being put in place to assist them migrate to the digital platform.
The Commissioner General, Mr Emmanuel Kofi Nti said the Tax Payment platform will help tax payers in filing their taxes easily and efficiently. To facilitate this process, he said that the month of April has been set aside as client service month. He urged the media to assist the GRA educate the public on the benefits of the new platform.
