The assembly prior to the year under review, had budgeted to collect Gh 3,931,747.63 as IGF for 2018 but made a tremendous gain of about 125 per cent increment.

The assembly budgeted to receive GhC 4,640,637.04 from its external sources but had   only GhC 2,744,631.70 from the central government in 2018, which represent 67.97 percent.

This was disclosed at the first ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the sixth assembly of the Birim North District Assembly held at New Abirem.

The assembly also received its allocation of an amount of GhC 280, 922.00 as part of its District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT) performance, which is a grant given to assemblies for passing a performance assessment conducted by the Ministry of Local Government.

Addressing the session, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Remond Nana Damptey said' the assembly made the gains as a result of revaluing some of the commercial and private properties in the district, adding, ''Until then, none of the properties in the district had been valued''

He said the assembly is working hard to bring more development to the people and indicated that, more projects have been completed and others initiated in Education, Health, Sanitation and the road sector with some at the various stages of completion.

He said in the year under review, the assembly made some efforts to improve the skills of the local government players, by electing a Presiding Member (PM), provided training for assembly members, Area council members and staff.

He said some community meetings were organized to engage community members to among other things approve the assembly's by-laws last year and that it was in the process of gazetting.
