Bellwether stocks in the banking, telecommunication and petroleum marketing sectors were the major catalysts to today’s performance. In line with this, market capitalization declined by 0.23% to GH¢60.27 billion while the year-to-date return moderated to -3.33%.
Standard Chartered Bank (-0.05%) declined by GH¢0.01, dragging the GSE Financial Index down marginally to close at 2,125.51 with a -1.31% year-to-date return. Manufacturing stocks recorded no gains or losses for the fourth straight session, closing with a -0.30% YTD return.
Activity levels declined with 225,845 shares valued at GH¢504,586.02 changing hands from 564,642 shares valued at GH¢935,517.60 recorded at the previous session. GCB Bank Limited (GCB) dominated trades by both volume and value, accounting for 44.59% of total volume traded and 83.43% of total value traded.
