Stocks recovered from losses in the last three sessions, following upward price movement in four counters in the banking and insurance sectors. The GSE-CI climbed 6.25 points (+0.24%) to settle at 2,567.88 with a -0.17% year-to-date return while market capitalisation increased by 0.10% to settle at GH¢61.09 billion.
The financial index rebounded, up 11.96 points (+0.56%) to close at 2,146.85 with a -0.32% year-to-date return. SIC Insurance (+13.64%), Societe Generale (+6.49%), Cal Bank Limited (+3.03%) and GCB Bank Limited (+0.22%) led gainers. Manufacturing stocks however recorded no changes, closing at yesterday’s level of 4,652.85 with a -0.01% YTD return.
Trading activity strengthened with 182,882 shares valued at GH¢242,971.69 changing hands from 128,819 shares valued at GH¢182,430.67 recorded at the previous session. Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) dominated trades by volume, accounting for 82.46% of total volume traded while Fan Milk Ghana Limited (FML) dominated trades by value, accounting for 83.81% of total value traded.
We expect trading activity to increase ahead of 2018 full year earnings results.
