Most of these women who are at the lower end of the chain received livelihood empowerment skills in financial literacy and savings.

The Public Affairs and Communication Manager of the company, Ms Joyce Ahiadorme, told some members of the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ), during a reception that the company provided 3,000 pupils in six schools with potable water in five regions in the country.

The event, which included a tour of Voltic's Akwadum factory at Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Eastern region, was to celebrate shortlisted applicants of the fifth Flamingo awards as part of its sponsorship towards the awards held in December last year.

She said as part of the company's sustainability priorities dubbed, the “3Ws-women empowerment; water stewardship and waste management,” it paid three years rent for stores for two widows in the Ashanti Region and one-time payment for stock worth GH¢6,000 who are expected apply the financial skills acquired to run their trade.

Irecycle

Through the "Irecycle" programme, launched with its partners, Voltic is helping to manage its post-consumer waste from households in the Accra-Tema metropolis.

It is a segregation and collection initiative aimed at encouraging consumers to segregate their plastics into special containers at 40 locations, mainly Total Service stations.

Voltic and IFEJ

Ms Ahiadorme said Voltic was proud to work with journalists, especially, IFEJ, who work tirelessly to bring news worthy stories that enable business decisions and bring to the fore areas of opportunities for businesses to impact deprived communities.

The past President of IFEJ, Mr Lloyd Evans, expressed appreciation to Voltic for their continued collaboration and support to IFEJ, and hoped to collaborate more to advance business and financial reporting in Ghana.
