If our great nation Ghana can become self-reliant and industrialized then there is the need for patriotism, hard work towards national building.
All hands are needed on deck to move Ghana beyond Aid, said Mr Hope Kumah, Effutu Municipal Director of the Ministry of Agriculture.
He was speaking at a durbar held to mark the achievements of farmers in the area.
Mr Kumah said governments flagship programmes -the Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development, One Village One Dam, amongst others, are all geared toward strengthening the country’s agriculture base due to its contribution to economy.
He said a total of 377 farmers made up of 343 male and 34 female in Effutu benefitted from the subsidized input for the maize programme under the Planting for Food and Jobs adding that 546 acres of maize was cultivated.
He said Effutu selected coconut for the export and rural development programme, of which over 3,000 coconut seedlings have been distributed to the first batch of famers under the programme adding that the assembly has nursed over 3,000 coconut seedlings to be distribute to other farmers in 2019.
He expressed gratitude to government for introducing the NABCO programme to augment their current staff numbers.
