MTN Ghana has held its 2018 Mobile Money (MoMo) Agents Award ceremony in Accra to reward loyal, dedicated and disciplined agents of MTN mobile money services in the Southern part of the country.
The ceremony held on the theme: “Rewarding those who contribute to financial inclusion,” was aimed at appreciating the agents for their hard work and to encourage other agents to emulate their example.
Over 20 agents were rewarded with citations and presents such as 49 and 40 inch digital television sets, and smart mobile phones.
Four merchants were also rewarded with Motorcycles and the ultimate winner received a brand new Hyundai i10 car.The criteria for selection of the Awardees included how long an Agent had worked for MTN, total number of quality customers an agent had registered, volume and value of transactions, zero incident of fraud recorded at an agent’s working location and customers’ feedback on transaction by agent.
Mr Eli Hini, the General Manager (GM) of MTN Ghana, said the Company needed to celebrate its agents who had contributed to MTN’s victory in MoMo awards organised by different bodies in 2018.
He said the Awards included the Ghana Telecom Awards 2018, the Ghana Business Awards 2018 and the Marketing Awards of the Year 2018.He said: “We are celebrating them for showing leadership and integrity in the execution of their duties because integrity is our hallmark as a Company”.
Mr Hini cautioned them to be honest in dealing with customers as the Company had observed that some of them charged unapproved fees, adding that if they did not change, customers may seek for other options from other networks.
He also asked them to report Agents they knew were defrauding customers in their operations, saying, some customers had reported such cases to them. The GM advised customers to learn to do MoMo transactions on their own to prevent them from disclosing their secret PIN Code to people for help because that could be used to defraud them.
He noted that some of agents had been blacklisted by MTN Ghana for poor customer service and therefore could not work for MTN or any other telecoms company on MoMo again. Mr Hini gave the assurance that the Company was working with insurance companies to insure the agents to mitigate their risk in the execution of their duties.
He advised agents to close from work early to prevent them from being attacked by criminals, and urged them to create metallic security around their structure to provide them with basic security.Mr Selorm Adadevoh, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, said the Company would be celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2019 and urged the agents to work harder to enrich the celebration.
Ms Gina Boakye Koduah, the Operator of the ‘Airtym Solutions Enterprise’, a MoMo centre and the ultimate winner expressed her gratitude to MTN for recognising their hard work. She urged all agents to work harder and serve as Ambassadors to the MTN brand.
