Ghana and Hungary are exploring investment opportunities in the area of agriculture and trade to their mutual benefit and the wellbeing of their citizens.
In furtherance of this, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, the Minister of Business Development, led a 16-member-delegation of businessmen and businesswomen from Ghana to the Fourth Ghana-Hungary Business Forum.
The four-day forum was held in Budapest, Hungary, from 21 November 2018, under the theme: “Enhancing Ghana and Hungary Partnerships through Agriculture Business”.
The delegation comprised officials from the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Association of Ghana Industries and Ghana Investment Promotion Centre.
A statement issued by Evangelist Dr Lawrence Tetteh, an Economist and Coordinator for Ghanaians Trained in Hungary, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, in Accra, said the trip was facilitated by the Hungarian Embassy in Ghana, in collaboration with the Ghanaian-Hungarian Business Council (GHUNBC),
A total of 20 Hungarian companies participated in the forum, the statement said.
There were panel discussions on enhancing bilateral co-operation between Ghana-Hungary.
The stakeholders from the two sides shared business experiences and best business practices to promote effective partnerships.
The Ghanaian Business Delegation also visited a number of factories and farms in Hungary, towards exchanging technical know-how and adopting operational methods.
The participants expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the forum, the statement said.
“Some of them said they were able to make new business contacts and form partnerships,” it said.
“The Embassy of Hungary in Ghana believes the trip is the right step towards furthering and strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations”.
Dr. Sándor Farkas, the Hungarian Deputy Agriculture Minister, said in his welcoming address, that his side was ready to exchange knowledge and develop strong partnerships with Ghana.
Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, the Minister of Business Development, who presented an overview of Ghana’s economy, said Ghana was keen in finding partners and investors from Hungary, especially in the areas of agriculture, trade.

The rest are: Mrs Kate Djankwei Abbeo, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Board, and Mr. Kofi Asmah, the Ghanaian Co-Chair of GHUNBC.
